Notion AI is built into Notion's workspace rather than bolted on as a separate chat window. Notion Agent handles multi-step tasks — drafting documents, querying databases, updating pages — from a single prompt, and Notion AI search grounds answers in your team's actual pages instead of generic web knowledge. As of January 2026, you can choose between GPT-5.2, Claude Opus 4.5 and Gemini 3, or let an Auto mode pick the best model per task. Notion 3.3 (February 2026) added Custom Agents for teams that want to build specialized AI workflows on top of their own workspace.
Pros
- AI answers are grounded in your team's own pages and databases, not generic knowledge
- Choice of GPT-5.2, Claude Opus 4.5, or Gemini 3, with an Auto mode to pick per task
- AI Meeting Notes auto-transcribes calls and extracts action items
- Custom Agents let teams build specialized workflows on their own data
Cons
- Full Notion AI now requires the Business tier ($20/user/month) — the standalone $10 add-on was retired
- Custom Agents bill separately by credit ($10 per 1,000) on top of seat cost
- Value depends heavily on how much of your team's knowledge already lives inside Notion
Use cases
- Drafting and summarizing documents from existing workspace context
- Meeting notes and action-item extraction
- Answering team questions grounded in internal docs instead of Slack archaeology
- Building custom multi-step AI workflows specific to a team's process
Pricing
freemium — from $10/user/month (Plus). A free tier is available.
